Wow. How powerful is that? That particular line was repeated over and over again during my yoga training by Moksha Yoga founder and amazing human, Ted Grand. It was re-enforced into my head with my beach read by Michael Stone, “Awake in the World: Teachings from Yoga and Buddhism for Living an Engaged Life.” Boy, did I want to pick up, “50 Shades of Grey” for that trip, but I feel like a better human for having read Stone’s book!
Back to the quote (and my interpretation!) You have one life. Live today like it will never happen again. This moment is truly a blessing. Don’t drift. Don’t squander your life.
Life is hard. I get totally get that. Recently, I have been rocked by thinking that life is too hard. It can be, but we have a choice to perceive it that way. When we really start to look at the world in a thoughtful way, things start to shift.
Ok, let me come clean. I have been giving myself some extra crap here because I am expecting more change and wanting to see more shifts in my life. No lying here.
What I am realizing is that I may be putting my energies into places that are not giving me the satisfaction of seeing those shifts. I feel as though I am still thinking with my old thought patterns and I realize, I need to make some thoughtful adjustments to my habits in order to see the old patterns dissipate. So, in order to meet some goals, I have decided to do a couple of 30 day challenges. These, I am thinking, may be able to put me in a good frame of mind and to help me strengthen my potential for change. Maybe some of you care to join me with these challenges? I am going to eliminate dairy from my diet and practice yoga for 30 days! Who wants in? We start today!
We need to take action and steps in our lives to make progress toward our goals. We may not hit it out of the park on the first try, but we keep trying.
Take the steps necessary that will give you results in your life. Don’t Squander Your Life.
Before I sign off, I want to share 3 things that have recently rocked my world:
First of all, you need to get down with Michael Stone. That dude is seriously awesome. His writing is off the hook inspirational. Go to his site, read his book or go to his retreats in the Toronto area.
Second of all, you women entrepreneurs need to get down with Marie Forleo. This woman will change the way you think about your life and your business. Many of you may just be getting your online life going, and this cat knows all about it! (It was also really nice to win a ticket to her crazy insane RHH Live Conference this October!) I’ll Tweet and FB like crazy during it!
Lastly, volunteer your time! I have been so truly touched by my experiences with working with patients at Bread for the City this past month! Wow. People need our help and they help us realize so much about ourselves and the world we live in.
We have so much potential to change this planet! Don’t squander your life!
Love, love, love,
Jess
P.S. Who wants to do these challenges with me? Email me at jessica@healthandmindfulness.com or respond here in the comments area!
michael stone… got it. love you jess, thanks for your inspiration.
Of course, lady! He has got some wise words! I think you will find some good stuff in there somewhere! Love you much!
Look who decided to check out your blog. First of all, let me start by saying I LOVE the name of the website. Resonates like CRAZY.
Second,My gosh…ok. I have a lot to say but I don’t want to reply with a blog length response so in short I just wanted to say thank you. i hope this doesnt offend you in any way but although I got pretty good vibes from you yesterday, I thought you were just being polite. As anyone should be when they 1st meet some1. But my goodness, you may be the REAL deal. & I’m not sure why… but that’s very refreshing to know. (If there are lots of people who think like you, I’m definitely not running into them often enough.) I often try to refrain from using the term enlightened because it sounds so outdated and philosophical, but idk what else to call it. Why wouldn’t EVERYONE want to take care of their body and own their circumstances? But priorities vary so much now a days and I don’t like to feel like I’m judging. I hope that I’m making sense. I could talk for hours about the notion of “squandering life” and circumstances manifesting from the energies and vibrations you put out. Sorry that I’m rambling so much.I don’t get to vent much now a days. But ima check out the book. Thanks again.
P.S. I kid you not… I literally stretched for about 15 min longer than I usually do today b4 my lil leg routine. My email is attached so feel free to let me know if you do decide to go through with the yoga in the park idea.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Jodel. I was certainly getting a really great vibe that you were pretty authentic yourself. That kind of energy is contagious AND transferable. I think most people do aspire to be open and honest in any situation, but our old habits and thought patterns force us to act opposite of how we feel. Many times we just react instead of just being in the moment and enjoying each other’s company. I am thrilled that we were able to do just that! I am also impressed with the extra stretching! Keep it up for a couple of weeks and notice how you feel. I’ll be working on a yoga in the park within the next couple of weeks. Watch out! Hugs, Jess
My wife and i felt absolutely contented Peter could round up his analysis because of the precious recommendations he acquired from your own weblog. It’s not at all simplistic to simply find yourself making a gift of guides which usually the rest might have been trying to sell. So we realize we need the writer to appreciate for this. The type of illustrations you made, the easy web site menu, the friendships you will give support to engender – it’s got everything superb, and it is making our son in addition to us know that the article is awesome, and that is truly serious. Many thanks for the whole thing!
I quite pleased to hear that Peter has gained much from the blog. I would like to hear what Peter had to say about thie and what he acquired. I appreciate your note!
